Exercise to reduce stress

Exercise can reduce stress, but part of relieving that stress means finding the form of exercise that you both enjoy and will benefit from. There are many things an individual can do in the way of exercise like taking a walk or bike ride. Some may prefer something a little more active which may involve others such as playing baseball or Frisbee. Gyms are in abundance today and offer not only machines but a variety of classes such as martial arts or yoga. Others simply prefer to stay home and exercise in the privacy of their own homes utilizing exercise DVD’s or a tread mill.

Walking is a great way to exercise though it can be difficult during winter months in some places. This type of exercising can be done alone or with another individual. During this time some individuals may chose to get away from it all and put the head phones on with their favorite music. Others may just chose to use this time to think about things and enjoy their surroundings. To create more of a challenge try speed walking this is great while listening to music and will not only aid in reducing stress but burn more calories. Burn even more calories and tone up that upper body by adding some light weights. Like walking a bike ride can offer the same benefits only on wheels, however I would not suggest your favorite music unless you are in a very unpopulated area. This type of exercise not only will help to relieve stress, but allow for a great cardio workout as well.

Now if you’re the outdoor type you might prefer a game of baseball with some friends. This is a great way to not only relieve stress, but socialize with some friends as well. The down side to this type of activity is that if the weather is bad then what, well how about an indoor batting cage. While you don’t get the same excitement as you normally would outdoors, stress can still be reduced while you hit those balls. Frisbee offers the same benefits as playing a game of baseball only playing indoors is not a possibility that is known of.

A gym is a great place to relieve some stress with a variety of exercise machines and programs there is sure to be something there for everyone. The YMCA is a great place if you like the gym and the majority of them have a pool for the swimmers out there. Why not relieve some stress on the tread mill and cool off with a nice relaxing swim, after you wash the sweat off of course.
