Whether you are going on a family vacation, a spring break vacation with college friends, or even your honeymoon, Hawaii is a great place to visit at any time of year. While Hawaii is a great travel destination, you may want to know a bit about this place before you land. The following are some important tips that can help you have a great time while you are in Hawaii.
Tip #1 – No Touching a Nene – A Nene is the Hawaii state bird, and while they may look cute, they can be very defensive, especially if they have babies. These birds are also endangered species, so even if they look cute, touching or even approaching these birds are against the law. Be sure to keep this in mind when traveling to Hawaii or you may end up with a hefty fine.
Tip #2 – Get the Flower Lei Greeting – One of the most exciting experiences to enjoy in Hawaii is the flower lei greeting, but some vacation packages may not have this greeting included. Before you make your final arrangements for your trip, make sure that you will get the flower lei greeting when you land in Hawaii. It is a great experience and no trip to Hawaii is complete without it.
Tip #3 – Avoid Sunburn – When you are in Hawaii, chances are that you will be out in the sun a great deal. Many travelers forget to wear sunscreen and end up getting burned. It is best to wear sunscreen to prevent sunburn from occurring, but if you do end up with a burn, Aloe Vera gel and lidocaine are great for getting rid of the burn.
Tip #4 – Pack a Sweater or Jacket – While Hawaii is generally quite warm during the day time, at night it can get a bit cooler. You may want to pack a sweater or a light jacket when you go to Hawaii, just in case the night turns cool and you need something warmer to wear. If wearing a jacket is not your style, make sure you pack a few shirts that have longer sleeves and are a bit warmer than what you would usually wear during the day so you are comfortable during the evenings.
Tip #5 – Take an Umbrella – If you are visiting Hawaii between October and May, you will probably want to pack an umbrella. During this time of the year, Hawaii gets a great deal of rain, and although showers do not last long, more than likely you will get caught in one at some point. Unless you love walking or running in the rain, you will need to have an umbrella just in case.
The Secret 2 Fat Loss: 5 Simple Summer Weight Loss Tips

Here we are! Summer is almost here, just about upon us, ready or not. But if you’re not in beach-ready shape, you’re in luck because it is truly easy to do! Healthy and fast weight loss is definitely something that anyone can achieve. Summer is the best time to lose weight because it’s warm out and everything looks beautiful! Who wouldn’t want to be outdoors during the summer? There’s so much to do that you’ll make it happen easily!
The most important guideline is to get up and do it! While it is easy to lose weight fast and in a healthy way, you have to put your mind and body into it. This needs to be your main focus and you need to want it enough to make it happen with our 5 simple weight loss tips:
Simple Summer Weight Loss Tip #1: Water! It is extremely important to drink plenty of water during the hot summer days. It’s important for weight loss, of course, but it’s even more important for general well-being. When you exercise outdoors in the summer, you tend to lose alot of fluids through your sweat but you may not realize this. Always keep a bottle or two of water nearby to keep yourself hydrated. I emphasize water because you should avoid sports drinks, fruit drinks, soft drinks or alcoholic beverages; those drinks only work to make you even more thirsty and will dehydrate you. So make sure to drink plenty of water before and after your workouts.
Simple Summer Weight Loss Tip #2: Feel the heat! Sure there are days when the heat seems overbearing or the humidity is taking the mugginess too far. But remember our top guideline: stick to your weight loss goal! If you become lazy and lose focus, you will stop yourself in your tracks. Instead, work through the heat. By drinking plenty of fluids before and after your workouts, you’ll be on the right track and headed straight for that slim beach-ready body! If the heat is way too much for you to focus on your workout routine, then try something new, a new sport or even just a new location.
Simple Summer Weight Loss Tip #3: Bright and early! Now, if the heat of the mid-day sun is ultimately too much for you, that’s okay. Switch your workout time to the mornings. For some, it’s easier to focus on that weight loss goal in the morning and if you wake up early to get your workout in, you’ll be on a great track for the rest of the day. It’s cooler in the morning but make sure to push yourself enough so that you’re sweating. If you feel you may not have enough time in the morning, that’s okay. Try walking for 15 minutes to get into the rhythm and to gauge how much time you have. Just make sure to focus on losing weight!
Simple Summer Weight Loss Tip #4: Ah, the breezy summer days! If the afternoon calls you to sleep, go ahead and take a nap. It will help your body recoup from your hard workouts and give your body a chance to work its weight loss magic! A nice afternoon nap will also help to lower stress levels, which is great because summer is a time for happy, stress-free days! So if that mood strikes, follow it and take a little nap!
Simple Summer Weight Loss Tip #5: With your increased physical activity, your body will be craving more food. This can be an easy place to sell yourself short. But instead of eating foods that are designed to make you gain weight, make sure you stock your kitchen with plenty of healthy foods and healthy treats. Fresh foods and fresh fruits are the way to go during the summer months. Trail mixes with nuts are great for protein and energy. So make sure to supply your body with plenty of these healthy foods and treats so it can make the most of losing weight. Just make sure to eat them after your workout.
Bonus Tip!: Exercise is great and it will make you feel great! But make sure to eat a healthy, balanced diet of good, whole foods. No amount of physical activity will counteract a poor diet. Make sure a good diet is the foundation for your summer beach-ready body and weight loss goals!

ARRESTED FOR HAVING TOO MUCH FUN!
By Frosty Wooldridge
“When something becomes too much fun, the government will move swiftly
to tax it.” Disgruntled Taxpayer
Outside Vicksburg, Mississippi, on Route 80, my brother Howard and I cranked east through the afternoon heat. Sweat dripped from our noses and splashed onto the top tubes. It ran down our spines in tiny rivulets. It burned our eyes from beads running down our foreheads. Salt stained our black riding tights like the colors of a Zebra.
Howard and I pedaled through the last month of a coast-to-coast bicycle adventure across America. San Francisco, California to Savannah, Georgia! Our legs glistened with sweat as our muscles labored under the constant down-stroke on the pedals.
Up ahead, heat waves rippled off the summer pavement, while a blazing sun baked the weeds along the two-lane highway. Trees lined the road while crows scattered in all directions as we passed. One crow struggled to escape from three sparrows darting in on him. They pecked at his feathers-attempting to drive him away. After each attack, he spun wildly in mid air to avoid them.
“Those guys are giving that big fella’ a hard time,” Howard said, pointing.
“I never have figured out why they attack a crow like that.”
“Sparrows drive them away because crows eat the young of smaller birds,” I said, remembering a natural science class from school. “They’re protecting their nests.”
Howard, dripping in a sweat-soaked T-shirt, cranked ahead of me- pulling up his water bottle and spitting as he took the lead. “We should make Vicksburg pretty soon. You want to stop at a salad bar and clean em out?”
“Good idea!”
Riding in the South during the heat of the summer months could be compared to pedaling in a steam sauna. Heat cooked us and sweat drenched our clothing.
Howard and I left a trail of droplets from our perspiration-soaked bodies. No matter! We looked forward to seeing the Civil War monuments in Vicksburg. We waved at passing cars. Folks moved at a snail’s pace in the Deep South. They defined the term “laid back.”
Southerners got a get a kick out of our riding cross-country through their towns. They took pictures of us-sometimes having family members gather around our bikes.
We pedaled two fully loaded mountain expedition bicycles. Condor, my bike, got his name from

Here are a few tips to help make your gym experience a safe one:
Take a bottle of water with you
Always take a bottle of water with you to the gym so if you get thirsty you can stop and have a drink. Not drinking enough can make you feel weak and ruin your workout
Take a towel with you to the gym
Always take a towel with you to the gym. A lot of gym users sweat all the time in the gym and it’s a good idea to wipe down the machines and equipment before you use them as this will stop you slipping and avoid causing you an injury
Wear sweatbands around your head and armbands on your wrists
As you sweat a lot when you go to the gym and workout it’s a good idea to wear some kind of toweling sweatbands. This will stop sweat dripping from your hair and into your eyes or from your hands on to the handle bars and equipment bases when you exercise.
Stop if you’re in pain or feel tired
It’s a good idea to rest for a minute if you find an exercise too hard, painful or feel you’re muscles are too tired to continue. This way you will give your body some time to recharge it’s energy levels. Otherwise you may get cramps or cause yourself some other kind of injury
Know your space
Try to make sure you don’t leave your things lying around you or in anyone else’s way. Tripping up in a crowded gym can be a common thing and it can cause someone a serious injury.
Know your limitations
Don’t overdo any exercise or use too heavy weights. Try to exercise as much as you can and use weights you feel comfortable with. Overstraining the muscles can cause injurieds or torn ligaments and this could cause you a setback in your fitness training

The Best Cleansing Skin Care Tips
June 19, 2010 by anthony

Your skin is the largest organ in your body and you need to take care of it. Below are the best cleansing skin care tips to help you with the cleansing of your skin.
The most important cleansing skin care tip is to rinse well! After washing your skin, make sure you thoroughly rinse off all of the cleanser. If any is left on your skin, it may continue to cleanse, which causes dryness and irritation.
DID YOU KNOW tap water alone will only remove around 65% of the dirt and oil on your skin. That’s why skin cleansers were created. They work as agents to remove dirt, excess natural skin oils, bacteria, cosmetics, and exfoliated surface skin cells. To get the most out of your cleanser, choose one that’s appropriate for your skin type like oily, dry, or normal.
Cleansing Skin Care Tip #1 – Sensitive Skin Cleanse with gentle, milky, water-soluble lotions, and tepid water. Avoid gels or soaps that contain drying alcohol, preservatives, or strong-acting acids. Avoid exfoliating scrubs or astringents, which can cause inflammation.
Cleansing Skin Care Tip #2 – Dry Skin Use a cleansing cream that contains non-detergent and rinses off easily. Use hard-milled cleansing bars and gentle face cleansers for drier skin, or try a liquid cleanser with a cleansing sheet that won’t strip away essential oils on the skin. Stay away from hot water – it makes your skin lose moisture.
Cleansing Skin Care Tip #3 – Oily Skin Use a gentle, foaming facial wash to remove dirt and oil without stripping away the fats that are needed to maintain moisture. Oily skin types should avoid wax-based cleansers, which can clog oil-prone pores.
Cleansing Skin Care Tip #4 – Combination Skin Use a foaming facial wash in the mornings to keep oily areas clean. In the evening, use a cream cleanser to soothe dry areas. Indulge in a regular clay-based masque to help an oil-prone nose, chin, and forehead area while a cream or gel masque will moisture dry areas of the face.
Cleansing Skin Care Tip #5 – Normal Skin Experiment with various liquid and soap gels to cleansing sheets. Choose a mild cleanser or gel cleanser and rinse with tepid water. Soap usually works well for the hands. Mild cleansers should be used even if you have normal skin. Use it on folds and genital areas.
Why is cleansing skin care important? The best cleansers are non-irritating, safe for sensitive skin, and won’t clog pores or cause acne. Your skin’s surface becomes clogged with debris, sweat, air pollution, excess oil, and bacteria. If you cleanse your skin with regular soap (they are made from fats, oils, and salt) and your skin is sensitive, the soap can plug hair follicles, leaving your skin dry and flaky. As soaps can excessively degrease the surface of the skin, it can also increase bacteria, leading to cellular damage.
Heat it Up: 5 Bowling Warm Up Tips

In every sports or any activity that entails strenuous work, it is important to start with some warm up exercises first. This is to avoid any possible injury, which results from muscles that were not yet toned and conditioned before the activity.
In fact, most health experts say that doing warm up exercises increases the capacity of the person to withstand the activity or the game.
It has been clinically proven that warm up exercises can actually boost an individual’s working ability and can lessen, if not eliminate, the chances of injury. It is necessary for every bowler to do some warm up exercises since playing the game could put more strain on the player than anticipated.
Here is a list of some warm up tips that every bowler should learn in order to play the game well – minus the injury:
1. Stretching
When doing stretching exercises that involve the neck and shoulder, it is best to hold each stretch for about eight counts to get utmost results. This will give the muscles enough time to condition.
2. Sweat it out!
It is important to start sweating when doing some bowling warm up exercises. The purpose of the warm up exercises is to raise an individual’s body temperature, at least by 1 or 2 levels.
The point here is that when your body has been warmed up, it will no longer release more heat when it is already doing in very strenuous activity during the game.
3. Stretch those arms
The player’s flexers and extenders should be properly warmed up before playing the game. This will enable the player’s arms to be properly toned so that it can handle the weight and strain of the ball.
4. Breathe out
During warm up exercises, it is important to do some deep breathing. It is best to hold your breath for about 6 counts in between deep breaths in order to condition the lungs. This will enable the person not to tire so easily.
5. Warm up before stretching
Even if stretching is part of a bowler’s warm up routine, it is still important to do some warm up exercises before stretching those muscles. Keep in mind that stretching should never be painful.
These are just some of the few tips that every bowler must bear in mind when doing warm up exercises that will ensure safe and comfortable play throughout the game.
Acne – Quick Tips

Quick Acne Tips 1: Electric razors may not shave as close to the skin; however, they help with the prevention of acne and other skin breakouts and flare-ups better.
Quick Acne Tips 2: If a non-electric razor is your choice, a single-edged blade is actually better. Why? Because double- and triple-edged blades grab hair follicles and pull them out from below the epidermis. And in the process, your skin “heals itself” by closing over these holes, making it difficult for future hair follicles to grow outward – creating inflammation in the tight areas.
Quick Acne Tips 3: Thoroughly clean your face and any other areas where cosmetics are applied daily, especially if used when combined with exercising or other activities that promote sweating, where there is the opportunity for the chemicals to be absorbed or soaked up into your pores.
Quick Acne Tips 4: Cosmetics – To avoid pore-clogging and skin irritations that are similar to acne and that can contribute to acne, use products labeled “noncomedogenic” or “oil-free.” Shimmering facial colors can contain a flaky mineral called mica that can cause skin irritations and clog pores. Other additives in coloring that can cause similar reactions are coal tar derivatives, carmine and heavy cream in blushes.
Quick Acne Tips 5: More preventative measures include using a lip gloss that promotes a matte finish instead of a high gloss for less pore-clogging; note the more the shine, the more then comedogenic content and the more the pores can clog. Beware that eye creams can contain heavier concentrations of moisturizers than regular creams and lotions, meaning they have greater potential to clog pores in the surrounding facial areas.
Quick Acne Tips 6: Additionally use caution with hair styling products that contain oils, alcohol and adhesives that should be kept away from skin and from seeping into pores along with perspiration during workouts; especially watch hair gels and mousses so that they don’t cause clogging around your hairline. Use care when choosing fragrance and scented cosmetics, too, and opt for “hypo-allergenic” or “fragrance-free” versions where possible to avoid allergic reactions and skin irritations (a sampling 3-day test behind an ear is recommended).

Empty nest: Tips for avoiding the urge to parent your adult child

BYE-BYE MOMMY AND DADDY, HELLO MY DEAR FRIENDS
Being a parent is as close as you ever come to being God. A small, helpless being depends on you for everything. As children grow, you become their primary source of their information, their primary interpreters of the universe. You provide for them physically, emotionally, and spiritually. You lose sleep over them, pray for them, and try to prevent them from repeating your mistakes. You put your heart and soul into their welfare.
The ultimate purpose of all this effort is to give them the self-reliance, courage and resources to become independent and live separate lives. When that finally starts to happen, parents are incredibly proud on one hand, and heart-broken on the other.
Ideally, the first steps to independence were taken long ago.
*when you knew that the yellow sweater was perfect for young Barry, but you let him wear the green one he wanted, even though you knew he would get overheated;
*when you agreed to let Sally take karate instead of ballet, and didn’t say “I told you so” when you drove her to the hospital with a bloody nose;
*when you refused to subsidize John’s class trip, and he had to stay home,
*when you did not allow your teens to drive your car unless they shared the cost of insurance;
*when you made it clear that they would have to contribute to their college expenses;
*when you refrained from trying to control their college applications, their bank accounts, their student loan applications, their friendships, their career choices, or their personal correspondence.
Post-secondary education is a difficult grey area. College students are legal adults, but most parents have a substantial financial and emotional investment. When the children come home, they expect things to be the way they always were. They may not appreciate the fact that the room that was their kingdom is now being used for other purposes. These years are the last chance to cut the apron strings that remain.
Finally, your children graduate. They start their careers, their marriages, their separate lives. Free at last!
Oops! According to Dr. Phil, 17 million young adults are still living in the parental home. Some have brought pets, mates and children with them. Some are unemployed. Some just don’t want to give up the comfortable life-style with unlimited food, utilities, and laundry service. His advice: 1. Set boundaries without feeling guilt. 2. Let your adult children
