Ways to Prevent Panic Attack

Slow breathing can relieve anxiety and prevent you from having a panic attack, if you do it as soon as you notice yourself over breathing or becoming anxious. Socially anxious people are advised to do slow breathing before tackling a feared social situation or at any time they feel anxious.

When you are first learning slow breathing you may find it easiest to practice this technique lying flat on your back, knees bent, feet flat on the floor and eight inches apart. Place one hand on your chest and one hand on your abdomen.

There are many reasons why people have panic attacks. They are often triggered by a specific situation that causes you fear. Some people don’t like crowds. Others experience panic attacks when they know they’ll have to speak in public. It could be anything. It is important that you recognize what triggers your panic attacks and do what you can to reduce or remove these triggers. For example, if your panic attacks are brought on by crowds, you may be able to successfully stop panic attacks by avoiding crowds. You may be able to stop panic attacks by gradually making yourself more comfortable in small groups then larger groups and so on.

You can also try to lower your personal level of stress. There are different ways to achieve this goal. If you are familiar with relaxation techniques (including yoga, muscle relaxation or any other kind of relaxation) try to include this relaxation in your daily schedule. Exercise (swimming, cycling, and walking) can be very useful! Try to avoid alcohol, illegal drugs, too much nicotine and caffeine. It is also important to learn to breathe in a good way. A panic attack can be triggered by an unbalance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood witch can be caused by e.g. hyper ventilating. A good way to stabilize the oxygen balance in the blood is a breathing technique where you calmly count to four while you breathe in, hold your breath while you count to four again and then exhale while again counting to four. This technique can be used when you feel the onset of an attack to lessen its strength.

Panic attacks usually come with a set of symptoms that include: shaking, trembling, heart palpitations, sweating, chest pains, shortness of breath, choking or feeling like you may be choking, nausea, dizziness, cramping, tingling, numbness, chills, hot flashes, and even “out of body” experiences or feelings related to that experience. There are other symptoms as well, but many of these are dependent on the individual panic attack sufferer.

Panic attacks were once dismissed as nerves or stress, but they’re now recognized as a real medical condition. Although panic attacks can significantly affect your quality of life, treatment — including medications, psychotherapy and relaxation techniques to help prevent or control panic attacks — is very effective.

Medication, whether it’s drugs or natural products, certainly help relieve a lot of the difficulty associated with a panic attack. They will reduce the frequency and intensity.

Beta blockers can help suppress the feelings and sensations and keep them under control. Proper abdominal breathing can help you maintain a level of control.

Colon Cleansing Is The Best Cure For Acne

Acne is one of the most common skin problems with a large majority of people all over the world suffering from it. However, there is hardly any permanent cure for acne, especially in allopathic medicine. It is because of this reason that most of us keep trying over the counter lotions and potions in order to treat our acne, but without much success. In order to treat your acne, you first have to understand what causes acne.

We all know that our body has to keep eliminating waste in order to function properly. This is carried out mainly through sweating, urine and bowel movements. However, if the colon and the kidney fail to work properly, then more and more waste is channeled towards the skin, which in turns blocks the pores and causes acne and other skin problems.

Therefore, in order to get rid of your acne, it is important that you go for an internal cleansing instead of taking any kind of medications and creams. Because until and unless the toxic wastes clogging your body leave it, your skin will keep on erupting. You can cure your acne completely by cleaning your colon, followed by your liver and kidneys. Once your colon is cleansed of waste matter, it will start eliminating waste properly and your skin will stop being clogged by toxins.

One of the best parts about intestinal cleansing is that it can be carried out using natural ingredients that do not have any side effects. This is unlike all the antibiotics and pills that we might take in order to get rid of our diseases. All you need to do in order to cleanse your colon naturally is to take a herbal colon cleanser that can either be made at home or bought ready made online for a week or two according to instructions. This colon cleansing regime will help your colon in getting rid of all the fecal waste and mucoid plaque that hampers its normal functioning and health.

On top of this, there are various ingredients in processed foods that when broken down take the form of toxins. Our colon, which is generally overworked due to our trashy diet is unable to remove all these toxins properly and they find their way to the skin erupting in the form of acne. Once your colon is cleansed, it will be able to remove all the wastes and the toxins that you consume from your body, so the blood that circulates in your body will be pure and free of acne causing toxins.

Many people follow colon cleansing with parasite elimination and liver flushes. All these processes combine to give you a complete internal cleansing, making you healthier and rid of not just acne, but many other health issues such as gastro intestinal problems, headaches and sluggishness and irregular bowel movements or constipation.

In fact, many people claim that colon cleansing, which has been known to cure all kinds of common acne like rosacea and cystic acne vulgaris is also helpful in healing scars left behind by acne.

Lupron And Endometriosis What You Need To Know

Lupron and endometriosis is something a woman can consider if she has been properly diagnosed by her doctor, and knows that the symptoms she is suffering are caused by endometriosis and not interstitial cystitis.

What is lupron? Lupron Depot, or simply Lupron, is a hormone that has two main stages. First, it stimulates the ovaries so that they increase production of estradiol, which is the strongest of the three estrogens women produce. Second, the hormones that send messages to the ovaries to produce estrogen significantly decline. Therefore, lupron causes a dramatic decrease in estrogen levels in the body which cause women to experience side effects that mimic menopause.

Lupron and endometriosis treatment is short term therapy that last no longer than six months. Lupron is administered to patients by doctors or nurses via an injection.

After the first injection, the fist stage of lupron (increase in estradiol) occurs. During this time, the patient will likely experience an increase in their symptoms. These symptoms will begin to subside after a few weeks when more injections are administered and stage 2 (dramatic decrease in estrogen levels) occurs. As treatment progresses, women generally have lighter or heavier periods, or may experience a complete stop in their menstrual cycle.

Unlike many of the medical treatments for endometriosis, lupron is not a contraceptive, and lupron and endometriosis treatment is not considered safe during pregnancy. Therefore, you will need to abstain from sex or use other forms of contraceptives (I.E. condoms, diaphragms, or non-hormonal oral contraceptives). Should a woman suspect she is pregnant while taking lupron, she should contact her doctor immediately.

Is lupron right for you? Lupron and endometriosis treatment has been FDA approved; however, before you determine whether or not this treatment is right for you, it is essential that you first know the pros and cons of lupron prior to making your decision, and consulting your doctor for more information and recommendations.

The postive side effects – While Lupron can provide pain relief during treatment, its purpose is to provide considerable pain relief for several years. One clinical trial found that more than 60% of women that suffered from mild endometriosis, who participated in the study, were successfully symptom free for five years after stopping treatment. On the other hand, just over 25% of women who suffered from severe endometriosis had the same successful results.

The negative side effects – The following are the negative side effects that may occur from lupron and endometriosis treatment:

•Hot flashes
•Night sweats
•Palpitations
•Syncope (fainting or dizziness caused by insufficient blood flow to the brain)
•Tachycardia (rapid heartbeat)
•Headache
•Depression
•Nervousness
•Vaginitis (vaginal inflammation often resulting from bacterial infection)
•Loss of libido
•Tenderness or pain in the breasts
•Acne
•Weight gain

Many of the above symptoms mirror menopause symptoms, which is to be expected especially during treatment, due to the low levels of estrogen in the body.

Some women believe that lupron and endometriosis is a dangerous combination. Many women who have received the injections claim to have suffered from severe side effects such as cardiac arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat), chest pain, confusion, depression, bone pain, loss of vision, extreme fatigue, and high blood pressure. Some women claim that these side effects lasted for a prolonged period of time after treatment was stopped.

Nevertheless, lupron is considered an effective and medically safe treatment for endometriosis, and most of the women who undergo the treatment find that the negative side effects they may experience during treatment are a small price to pay for the long-term relief of their painful endometriosis symptoms.

Are their alternatives to lupron? Yes. If you feel lupron and endometriosis are a risky combination, talk to your doctor about alternative remedies such as -

• Medical remedies – oral contraceptives, progestins, etc.
• Holistic treatments – acupuncture, hypnosis, elimination diet, etc.
• Surgery – Laparoscopy, etc.

Acne and the Way You Live

People have associated acne, especially adult acne, with the way they live. Naturally, as adults, they think that acne is reserved only for teenage people going through puberty. Though it is true that adolescents make up most of the acne cases around the world, this does not mean that adults cannot suffer from this.

As an adult, one should know that acne can have a considerable impact physically and emotionally. Some people do lack self-esteem because they don’t feel so good about themselves. With this, acne might even affect one’s professional and social life. To make sure that an adult can abate the acne problem, it is best for her to make a preemptive strike before pimples start popping out of her face.

One preventive measure is to make sure you don’t put anything on your face that is comedogenic, which can clog the pores. The reason why pimples occur is because pores are clogged with dirt and sebum. Comedogenic products, like certain makeup or hair products, may not cause pimples but may irritate the acne area. So be careful on what makes contact with your face. Certain oils can also be considered comedogenic.

Sleep can also do wonders on your skin. It has been found that having a good night’s rest can make a difference on your skin, and may help put a stop to the acne problem. A well-rested body will have a better immune system.

Sleep may not have a considerable impact on reducing acne production, but it will help heal acne lesions much, much faster. This means pimples clear up quicker because your immune system will fight off the infection quicker and much more efficiently. It really doesn’t matter what time you go to sleep. What’s important is that you get enough of it.

There is also the matter of sun exposure. Some people think that exposing their skin to the sun will hide their acne or acne scars. Tanning isn’t certainly the solution, and certainly not the cure. The skin does need sun exposure for vitamin D, but overexposure can leave the skin dry. And a dry skin may force itself to produce even more oil or sebum, which will eventually cause pimples. So sun block lotions are still necessary when out in the sun.

Some believe that acne is stress-related. You have probably complained that if you’re stressed out, you experience breakouts. This connection does hold truth in it. When you’re anxious, your adrenaline shoots up and produces more cortisol, which also makes sweat glands produce more oil. The oil overload plays a role in creating more acne.

So what can you do to avoid and treat acne? There is no cure for this condition, but it can be treated. There are ways to prevent acne from developing. Having a healthy lifestyle, which equates to having the right amount of sleep, exercise and good healthy food, can really make a difference. Taking care of your skin should not be taken lightly. Consult a dermatologist if you are taking acne and skin care seriously.

Dealing With Anxiety And Panic Attacks

In this country many of us have heard of mental disorders, and most of us think that only certain people become afflicted with these conditions. However this is simply not the case. Mental disorders include panic attacks, anxiety disorders and social anxieties as well.

These anxiety attacks can range from mild discomfort to debilitating agoraphobia and this is a condition that can strike anyone. Your life is going along in its normal day to day fashion when suddenly without any warning terror has you in its grip. You feel weak and helpless. Your hearts pounding and you have trouble breathing. You may even wonder if you’re having a heart attack or if youre about to die. When you finally go to see a doctor, you might even be told theres nothing physically wrong with you.

At first you are stunned by the attack asking yourself what just happened to me. You are frightened by the experience but now you realize that the fear feeling is still there. About this time you may begin to conclude that you had an anxiety or panic attack. You find yourself feeling very uncomfortable in certain social situations or physical surroundings. The worst part is that you cannot control these feelings.

You say to yourself what in the world is going on with me. What you have is the beginnings of a serious mental disorder called agoraphobia. As it develops you will find that you find more and more situations that you feel uncomfortable in and begin to avoid them. Agoraphobia has been around for a long time and its very name is rooted back to ancient history. It literally means fear of the crowded public market place.

Agoraphobia is a condition that develops gradually. In general it occurs after a panic attack. After the first attack you may subconsciously be preparing for another attack and fearing the symptoms that will leave you feeling helpless. This cycle of panic attack and impending panic attack can cause you to change your entire lifestyle just to avoid those feelings of terror. As panic attacks can occur anywhere at anytime, we generally associate the first place that we felt helpless as perhaps the reason for our anxiety attack. A routine of fear and subsequent panic attack dominates your life. People, who have suffered from PTSD associated with a traumatic event, relate this event to everyday life situations. Most of the time agoraphobia starts slow and then grows as you wait for the next attack to commence.

Anyone suffering from this condition will find that their world is closing in on them. In extreme cases the individual will confine themselves to their house or even to a single room within a home. Just discussing a trip to a public place with people will trigger a racing heart. Frequently the person begins to sweat and experience chest pains similar to a heart attack. It is not uncommon for a person suffering from agoraphobia and panic attacks to stop taking care of their physical needs. They cannot go to a public place to buy clothes or get a haircut and sometimes cannot seek medical attention because of the fear of a crowded doctors office.

It is critical for the patient to see a medical specialist that treats this disorder prior to it becoming serious. Failure to do so may prevent the individual from getting needed assistance outside of a medical inpatient facility. This is very serious and debilitating disease that affects many people. Seeking treatment early allows for more treatment options. New effective medications are available that will assist in recovery. Anxiety attacks are a serious mental condition that we all need to be aware of.

Alternative Treatment For Toenail Fungus

The medicine have alternative treatment for toenail fungus. This medical condition is name onychomycosis is a common medical condition in patients with good health or other diseases like diabetes. Controversy notwithstanding, patients with diabetes have several medical conditions (obesity, peripheral neuropathy, and retinopathy) that can inhibit the identification or mask the progression of fungal nail infections. In addition, vascular insufficiency, impaired wound healing, and compromised immunologic status associated with diabetic foot increase the risk of secondary infections in diabetic patients with onychomycosis. Toenail may cause it to be thick until the damaged area grows out. This is why thickening of the big toenails is common in young men, particularly football players. Old people also often have thickened, hard toenails, probably because of the damage they have sustained over the years, and because their nails grow more slowly, it takes longer to repair the damage. Fungal infection can make your nails thick. The commonest infection is with Trichophyton rubrum, the same fungus that causes athlete’s foot.

Occasionally, other types of fungus, such as yeasts, are responsible, and people who have been abroad may have some quite exotic fungi. It is easy to pick up fungi – they are particularly common on the floors of communal showers and changing rooms – and many of us probably already have fungi on our skin. They cause problems only when conditions are ripe for them to thrive, which means warmth and moisture. When human beings started wearing enclosed shoes, which trap sweat and heat, we created ideal conditions for fungi. The fungus very gradually spreads towards the base of the nail and down the sides, loosening the nail from the underlying toe and filling the separated area with crumbly, yellowish-white gunk. The nail itself becomes thicker and yellowish brown in colour. This can take months or years. Sometimes the infection starts at the base of the nail, giving a whitish area near the half moon, or it may just affect the surface of the middle of the nail, where it will appear as a white patch. Oral antifungal agents are generally well bad tolerated, and cause serious adverse events independent of or associated with a number of significant drug interactions have been reported. Depending on the medication and your particular risk factors, some antifungals may: Affect liver or kidney function. Cause liver damage or failure, particularly when combined with alcohol or certain medications.

Can weaken the heart’s ability to contract, leading to heart failure also can cause dangerous side effects when combined with many different common medications.During oral antifungal treatment, your health professional may require blood tests to check your kidney and liver function.

Possible mild side effects caused by antifungal medications include stomach upset, headaches, and skin rash.

Also this funfus have resistance to many medication and the patient need the combination of several drugs to kill this fungus who make more dagerous or toxic side effect.

I give you natural remedie to stop suffering, stop pain and cure all diseases cause by this fungus like vaginal discharge, vaginal odor, skin raches, tinea versicolor, urine painfull, etc. This remedies is natural, safe and 100% effective. Causes of Dehydration and Treatment of Dehydration

June 13, 2010 by anthony

Dehydration (hypohydration) is the removal of water (hydro in ancient Greek) from an object. In Physiologic terms, it entails a relative deficiency of water molecules in relation to other dissolved solutes. Dehydration, thus, is slightly different from hypovolemia, which defines water deficiency only in terms of overall volume rather than in terms of solute concentrations.

What causes dehydration?

Excessive loss of fluid through the intestinal tract can happen when the intestine is “inflamed” or damaged, or when bacteria or viruses cause the lining of the intestine to produce more fluid than can be absorbed.

Dieting can sap a person’s water reserves as well. Beware of diets or supplements, including laxatives and diuretics that emphasize shedding “water weight” as a quick way to lose weight. Losing water weight is not the same thing as losing actual fat.

Dehydration often results from an illness, such as gastroenteritis, where you have persistent diarrhoea and vomiting. You can also become dehydrated after sweating excessively from a fever, heavy work in hot conditions or heatstroke.

Symptoms Of Dehydration

Mild to moderate dehydration is likely to cause:

Dry, sticky mouth

Sleepiness or tiredness — children are likely to be less active than usual

Thirst

Decreased urine output — fewer than six wet diapers a day for infants and eight hours or more without urination for older children and teens

Treatment Of Dehydration

Drinking fluids is usually sufficient for mild dehydration. It is better to have frequent, small amounts of fluid (using a teaspoon or syringe for an infant or child) rather than trying to force large amounts of fluid at one time. Drinking too much fluid at once can bring on more vomiting.

Prevention is better than cure. Adults should drink at least 6 glasses of fluids daily. Fluid intake should be increased on hot days. Exercise, fever, and hot weather increase the body’s need for water. For mild dehydration, drinking plenty of water may be all that is needed. If electrolytes (especially sodium and potassium) are also lost, they must be replaced. Flavored sports drinks have been formulated to replace electrolytes lost during vigorous exercise.

Electrolyte solutions or freezer pops are especially effective. These are available at pharmacies. Sport drinks contain a lot of sugar and can cause or worsen diarrhea. In infants and children, avoid using water as the primary replacement fluid.

When to Seek Medical Care

Infants and small children can become dehydrated quickly.

Contact your doctor if your child has any of the following:

Dry mouth

Crying without tears

No urine output in four to six hours

If you take diuretics and develop diarrhea, you may need to stop taking the diuretic during the acute episode. Do not stop taking any medicine unless your doctor tells you to.

Use an oral rehydration solution. Unless your doctor advises otherwise, use an oral rehydration solution such as Pedialyte for infants and children who have diarrhea, vomiting or fever. These solutions contain water and salts in specific proportions to replenish both fluids and electrolytes. They also contain glucose or another carbohydrate such as rice powder to enhance absorption in the intestinal tract.

Natural Cures for Diaper Rash

June 12, 2010 by anthony

To run baby a warm bath and put backing soda in the water. Let the baking soda dissolve and let baby soak it the water for about 15 minutes. When you get baby out of the bath let him go without a diaper for about 10-15 minutes to allow the area to dry. Then apply Flanders Ointment and put babies diaper on. I usually do this at night right before my son went to bed and when he wakes up the diaper rash is gone.

Diaper rash is what happens when a baby’s sensitive skin is kept in contact with urine-or fecal-soaked diapers for any length of time. The moisture breaks down the skin’s natural protective oils, and a red, irritated, bumpy rash appears. The makeup of the diaper is irrelevant: Doctors say diaper rash can happen whether your baby wears cloth or disposable diapers.

The best thing is to prevent your little one from getting this in the first place, but even at our best attempts she will probably at least have one or two in her first year of life. Your goal as a mom will probably be to minimize the chances the best you can. Again, since babies have different skin types, you should probably find a diaper that is friendly to her skin as well as leaks. After this step, you will want to keep her as dry as possible and this does not mean checking to see if she is “wet” every 10 minutes. This means if you use baby wipes at every change, to pat her dry with a cotton towel or let her air dry before closing the diaper.

Giving your baby a warm water bath is the first step in easing their discomfort. Adding some oatmeal to the water is a great tip. Just pour a cupful into the running water and let your baby bathe as usual.Next dry the bottom very carefully; a harsh towel will just cause more pain and irritation. A blow-dryer on the lowest/cool setting works wonders. Keep the dryer moving constantly until the area is completely dry.

Diapers are used to cover the genitals and they invariably protect the area where the infection has a breeding ground therefore the diapers should be changed intermittently as often possible depending on the child’s toilet training and routine. Wet diapers are a strict no-no and once the area gets wet because of the child’s routine, then the area should be air-dried and if possible pat-dried. Care should be taken that the sweat pool does not form and accumulates under the diaper. If some medicine taken is found to show this allergic reaction steps should be taken to stop the medicine completely. Coconut oil is the best home ready source that could be used on the baby’s skin around the buttocks and it would destroy the budding rash efficiently.

Use a decoction of white oak bark, which has anti-fungal properties. You take 4 tablespoons of white oak bark (the actual bark, which you buy from a herbalist). Simmer it for 20 minutes in one quart of water, then strain. Return the liquid to the pot and simmer it until it has reduced its volume by about half. Store it in the fridge for 2-3 days, and apply to the baby’s bottom (or your nipples, if you get thrush) frequently.

Acne Treatment- Some Facts About Skin Care

June 9, 2010 by anthony

Acne treatment can be very time consuming process. Many people get tired treating acne and getting no results. They change the acne medication, try herbals and home remedies but get no results. Acne treatment can be speeded up greatly if you follow some basic care. Good skin care stops aggravation of acne and help cure acne. Let us look at some of the skin care tips for acne treatment.

1. Don’t squeeze out blackheads or whiteheads. Squeezing may lead to further infection. Squeezing also increases the pore size. If you want ask your doctor to remove the comedones.

2. Excessive sweat or dirt does not cause acne. What we see as black in blackheads is not dirt, but oxidized sebum. This does not mean that one should keep skin dirty. But excessive cleaning of skin will not cure acne. Excessive cleaning may rather aggravate the condition.

3. It is recommended that you use noncomedogenic cosmetics and skin care products. For quick acne treatment, I would say that you avoid any cosmetic. But if you must use, use Noncomedogenic products. These products do not cause any acne.

4. Rapid change of medication will not speed up acne treatment. Use any good medication at least for one month. If by that time you observe no results than you should ask your doctor about another medication.

Basic skin care is very important for quick resolution of acne. Overuse of medication, trying unknown products does not help the acne treatment. They may worsen your condition.

Discover How To Stop And Prevent Muscle Cramps

June 8, 2010 by anthony

No-One is Safe From Muscle Cramps

When you are training to get fit or build muscle you are going to get muscle cramps at some stage in your training program, it happens to everyone. Believe it or not people who don’t train also get muscle cramps, so no-one is safe!

Simply, muscle cramps are just muscle contractions which happen completely involuntarily and usually occur in your leg and stomach muscles. Muscle cramps are a real pain, and can really disrupt your training workout, but there are a number of things you can do to help reduce the frequency and probability of muscle cramps.

Tips To Prevent Muscle Cramps

There are a number of reasons for muscle cramps; the main one is that they are induced by dehydration, low salt and ion levels in the body. So make sure that you carry a good energy drink with you to training, preferably an isotonic drink which has the correct composition of sugars, salts and other ions.

Make sure that you warm up properly before you start training, do at least five minutes of light jogging or skipping to get your blood flowing and cardiovascular system ready. Follow this with some dynamic and static stretching to loosen off your muscles before you do any lifting or intense exercise, as this will also help prevent injuries and allow you a full range of motion in your exercises.

If you have been out of training for a while make sure you place more emphasis on warming up and warming down than you would normally as you are more prone to getting muscle cramps when you’ve out for a while, the same applies to beginners. Gradually build up the intensity and ensure the muscle groups which you are training have 48 hours to recover before working them again especially if you are doing weights.

The most important thing that you can do to reduce muscle cramps is to stay well hydrated, sip water or your energy drink regularly throughout your training session to keep on top of it. If it is hotter or more humid than normal, drink more as you will lose extra fluid through sweat, so it’s important that you constantly replace it.

Key Points:

-Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated

-Carry a sports drink to replace ions and nutrients lost through sweat

-Warm up and warm down properly

Muscle cramps are normal, every athlete gets them at some point, they usually go away after a minute of so, or quicker if you can stretch the muscle out, however the muscle may remain painful afterwards. If it does, softly massage and stretch the muscle to help it relax, then ice it and rest it for a few days.
